Elders at Vanaprastam
Our story

Fourteen years, one promise

Vanaprastam began in 2011, when Robbi Srinivasa Rao founded the RBL Foundation in Visakhapatnam with a simple conviction: that no elder should face the end of life abandoned and alone. The home opened its doors in 2012, in a small rented house in Murali Nagar.

In the years since, it has given more than 500 destitute and abandoned elders a place to belong — food, medicine, healthcare, companionship, and, when their time came, a dignified farewell. Today 51 elders live here, cared for entirely free of cost.

For over a decade the founder has carried much of this on his own savings, supported by a handful of well-wishers. Now, with the land bought and a new home being built for 120 elders, the work is ready to grow.

Our mission
To provide shelter, care, healthcare and dignity to abandoned, destitute and ailing senior citizens — and to be their family for life.
Our vision
A society where old age is a blessing, not a burden, and where no elder is ever left to face the world alone.
